There are literally hundreds of truck driving schools across the country, each with different programs. As with any business, there are good ones and
there are bad ones. But you have to know what to look for in a trucking
school. There are essentially three different types of truck driver training programs. The first is a private school, the second is a public institution and the third is a training program run by a motor carrier. |

Learn the Essentials of CDL Practice Tests
By Michael Ottman
Because each state develops their own CDL practice tests, they have to be as stringent as the standards set by the Federal government. Most tests have to consist of at least 30 questions and you have to score a minimum of 80% to pass the written portion of the test - and this does not include the CDL skills test which must be performed in a vehicle that is representative of the type you will be driving.
Many third party CDL skills testers are out there ranging from governmental departments and agencies to privately owned institutions, but regardless of which route you choose, every testing facility has to meet federal requirements.
If you are thinking about getting your CDL and are considering taking the test, perhaps the most important thing you can do to prepare is to take CDL practice tests - and if you are looking for a high score, then you should practice as much as possible.
Repetition helps us learn and by taking practice tests over and over, you are committing the facts to your long term memory; therefore, when you are taking the test for real, the answers will almost seem like second nature. A concert violinist didn't learn their solo overnight and cramming for a CDL skills test is not the way to succeed.
There are many different practice tests available online for you to try and there are two key points to remember. First, make sure the CDL practice test you purchase is specifically related to CDL license that you are attempting to acquire. Second, Make sure you use a reputable company if you are paying for the tests and try to take them as many times as possible before taking the real thing.
